Born in Toronto, Diny attended a graphic arts program at Northern Technical School, while at the same time attending art classes at the Art Gallery of Ontario for 3 years. Love of mountains and art took her to Calgary, Alberta, where she studied at the Alberta College of Art.
The call of the mountain air lured her into the world of ski and avalanche patrol.
In 1992 Diny became the first woman in North America to obtain her International Mountain Guide Certification. She then began her career of worldwide mountain guiding, helicopter skiing and travel. She became president of the Canadian Avalanche Association, president of the Canadian Mountain Guides Association and worked for the Canadian Mountain Holidays Revelstoke Heliskiing operation.
Diny's beautiful silk screens capture the majestic mountains where she spends her winters.
